Golfing greats confirmed for Abu Dhabi championship

Four Major winners to tee off in January tournament

Some of the greats of modern golf will be taking to the fairways of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship when the event starts on January 20.

So far, the four winners of golf’s prestigious 2010 Major tournaments, as well as the new world number one ranked player Lee Westwood, have signed up for the competition at the Abu Dhabi Golf Course in Sas Al Nakhl.

The quartet  are defending US Masters champion and world number four Phil Mickelson;  Northern Ireland’s Graeme McDowell, the 2010 US Open winner; Louis Oosthuizen, the South African who won the 2010 Open at St Andrews in Scotland; and German Martin Kaymer, this year’s US PGA Champion. The winner of the four-day championship will walk away with a cool US$2.7 million prize.
