Eric Clapton and Stevie Wonder to play Abu Dhabi gigs

Music legends announced for Yas Island shows in February and March

Rumours have been flying around the capital for weeks about which mega-stars would be hitting the stage at Yas Arena in the spring. But now the whispering is over and event organisers Flash Entertainment has announced a truly impressive line-up of some of the greatest names in modern music.

Starting the series of concerts on Friday, February 11 is Eric Clapton, one of the most talented guitarists to ever have strummed a six-string. Clapton rose to fame in the ’60s as leader of blues rockers The Yardbirds, before forming psychedelic super-group Cream, then going on to become a hugely successful solo artist with hits such as ‘Tears in Heaven’ and ‘Wonderful Tonight’ under his belt.

Then, on Thursday, February 17 Dutch mixmaster Tiësto will be showing off his DJ’ing skills at the Flash Forum when his spectacular Kaleidoscope tour hits Abu Dhabi, giving him a chance to redeem himself with his fans after his October gig was called off at the last minute due to technical difficulties.

On Friday, March 11, actor Jared Leto’s band 30 Seconds to Mars, will be taking their turn to tear up the stage for some of their trademark angst-rock stylings. And then on Friday, March 18, the truly legendary Stevie Wonder will be bringing his pop-funk sound to the capital. The blind singer is an undoubted musical genius, responsible for some of the greatest songs and albums ever recorded in the history of pop. We imagine his hordes of fans will be clamouring to see him perform hits such as ‘Superstition’ and ‘I Wish’ live, so best buy your tickets early for this one as it’s almost certain to be a sell out show.
