Abu Dhabi mobilises to help Japan quake victims

Series of events planned to help casualties of devastating disaster

After last Friday’s massive earthquakes and tsunamis in Japan, organisations across the city are gearing up to help those affected.

So far, the UAE Japan Cultural Society and the Red Crescent are in the process of organising fundraisers to help rebuild the stricken island. Keep an eye on this website for further details. Also, search and rescue teams from Abu Dhabi are on standby to travel to Japan to help the search for survivors amongst the debris.

Meanwhile, Time Out Abu Dhabi’s former editor Jon Wilks, who now is editorial director of Time Out Tokyo, blogged live from the epicentre of the quake. Log on to www.timeout.jp/en/tokyo/feature/2531/Japan-earthquake-as-it-happened to read his reports.
