Flash announces Music for Youth workshops

Programme aims to find and nurture next generation of music stars

If you’ve been inspired by the world class performers who’ve been hitting the stages of Abu Dhabi recently, instead of singing into your hairbrush in your mirror or strumming your tennis racket, you may want to take some practical steps towards achieving superstardom.

Event organisers Flash Entertainment has teamed up with the city’s media freezone TwoFour54 and digital entertainment company Creative Lab to launch the Music for Youth programme.

Hosted by Radio 1 DJ Dany Neville, this series of workshops will shed light on how the music and entertainment industry works as well as identifying the next group of international stars.

Some of the region’s best known musicians, including Robin, DJ  Lobito and The Riddim Crew, Khalifa Al Romaithi and Rone Jaxx, will be among the list of speakers sharing their insight into the business.  There will be four workshops on four different subjects – DJ’ing, producing, radio presenting and artists – from experts who have succeeded in these fields.

Flash Entertainment spokesperson, Shatha Al Romaithi says through the Music For Youth workshops FLASH, TwoFour54 and Creative Lab are hoping to enhance the view of the local music culture and music industry. ‘Our objective is to change the preconceptions about hip hop culture by showcasing the positive aspects of hip hop and how it can empower the local UAE youth community. This is an opportunity to give some of our local talent an opportunity to gain certain skills, build their network as well as understand how the industry functions on a commercial and creative level,’ she says.

To be included in these exclusive sessions all you have to do is upload a video of yourself performing to FLASH’s Facebook page; www.facebook.com/thinkflash. After they’ve been tutored, the attendees will be able to showcase what they’ve learnt at an after party at Stars N’ Bars on Yas Island on May 5. Everyone is welcome to come and see these stars in the making perform alongside some of the regions finest artists.

The DJ’ing workshop is taking place April 26; producing is on April 27; radio presenting is on May 3; and artists is on May 4. All workshops take place from 5pm-7pm. For more information visit www.thinkflash.ae
