A Bangladeshi entrepreneur has been branded a show-off by curry chefs in Dubai after splashing out a small fortune to fly his favourite Indian takeaway from Scotland to the UAE.
Wealthy businessman and former airline pilot Mustafa Azim, who lives in Dubai, thinks Ayr Spice’s dishes are ‘second to naan’ and made a Dhs15,000 order for a 12-man banquet. The fiery fish curry complete with vegetable extras, rice and sauces was winging its way 5,800km by helicopter and passenger jet last night before it ends up on the plates of Azim’s pals at a private party this weekend.

The UAE’s largest indoor sporting festival, Dubai Sports World (DSW) is introducing even more sporting and entertainment options to its two-month marathon of indoor sports organised by Dubai World Trade Centre in association with Dubai Sports Council (DSC) and Dubai Events and Promotion Establishment (DEPE).
Running throughout July and August, the event is being held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, in the Arena and Sheikh Saeed Halls 1, 2 and 3 providing 25,000 square metres of dedicated sports.

Subscribers of etisalat’s landline phone, internet and TV can switch all or some of the services to du – and vice versa – thanks to a new “bitstream access” scheme undergoing tests in the UAE, according to the country’s telecom regulator.
A Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) spokesperson said customers need not switch all services.
