Eid Al Fitr holiday to begin Tuesday

UAE government sets official date for Eid holiday

The UAE has announced that the Eid Al Fitr holiday will begin on Tuesday with employees in the private sector getting paid time off on the first two days of Shawwal (August 30-31).

The UAE’s Minister of Justice Dr Hadef Jouan Al Dhahiri said at a press conference on Monday evening that the sighting of crescent moon had been established, marking the beginning of the month of Shawwal.

The five-day Eid Al Fitr holiday for the public sector began on Sunday, the UAE Federal Authority for Government Human Resources said previously.

Government employees will return to work on Sunday, September 4.
