Head for Ferrari World: Head to a theme park The best time to act like a kid (albeit a big one) is when the real nippers are away. So grab your mates and go to Ferrari World for the weekend. Sign up for their annual pass, which offers year-round general admission, exclusive invites, promotions, special offers and a 10 percent discount.

Grab some grub: Not fasting and stuck for lunch? Fear not: Api Cae’s summer promotion (a set meal from Dhs75) is on now and they’re feeding hungry folk from noon onwards throughout the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Go for a swim: Yes, we know, it’s a bit hot outside at the moment, so why not cool off with a few laps in the pool at the Beach Rotana? There’s two pools and a beach to choose from.

Have a traditional iftar: Eastern Mangroves Hotel will be serving iftar at sunset in Ingredients, the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant, overlooking the mangroves lagoon. Eat a big steak: If you haven’t eaten a decent piece of meat in a while then head to the fancy-schmancy Marco Pierre White Steakhouse & Grill. Not only will the food blow your mind, the service is top notch, too. The bill might make you sit upright in your chair but it’s worth it.

Take up golf: Not going away for the summer? Buy a golf lesson package at Yas Links and take up a new sport for the lonely weekends when the family is away.

Try capoeira: This Brazilian martial art isn’t just cool, it’s also a great way to get fit and have lots of fun in the process. If your coordination is a bit off, this might be the perfect sport for you.
