Go to the movies: Head along to VOX cinema where you can see the award-winning, independent feature film from Palestinian writer-director Annemarie Jacir, When I Saw You at VOX Marina Mall. Set in 1967 the film tells the story of 11-year-old Tarek and his mother adjusting to life in a Jordanian refugee camp having fled Palestine. In Arabic with English subtitles.

Go all-out for iftar: Splurge tonight on the sensational iftar at Emirates Palace. The tent will be open for iftar and suhoor featuring courses such as lamb ouzi, lamb madfoon plus chicken dishes and lots of mezze. Finish it all off with homemade ice cream. Iftar is Dhs249 per person and suhoor is à la carte.

Watch ice hockey: The second Ramadan Ice Hockey Tournament for ladies kicks (or should that be pucks?) off tonight and runs until July 26. Expect entertaining live events that will include a laser show, acrobats and prizes. Oh, and it’s free.
