How to save cash with Time Out

Seven savings in seven days courtesy of this week’s special voucher issue

Okay, so not all of us are oil tycoons with money to burn. But that’s why our voucher issue is back, by popular demand. But just how far can 2 for 1 vouchers get you and a plus one? TOAD has set you the challenge of enjoying the high life for a week – only on coupons…We’ve even planned your week for you.

Wednesday November 20
Got the day off? Then have a leisurely morning at Zari Spa & Beauty Centre on Electra Street, where you can choose from a Thai or aromatherapy full-body massage. After that, ease yourself back into the real world over a main course from the à la carte menu at Spaccanapoli at Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi, anytime from noon-4pm. If you’ve got room for dessert treat yourself to a small ice cream cup at Sub Zero Ice Cream in Abu Dhabi Mall. In the afternoon, you should head to Xclusive Yachts at Dubai Marina Yacht Club – you’ll get two free hours of fishing once you’ve paid for two yourself. That should get you in the mood for seafood at Sevilo’s at the Millennium Hotel Abu Dhabi, where you and your pal can dine for Dhs240 instead of Dhs480. The price includes unlimited house beverages.

Thursday November 21
Meet a colleague for breakfast before work at Foodlands on Airport Road. At lunchtime, grab a quick bite from the à la carte menu at Keway-Mai in City Seasons Al Hamra Hotel, then swing by Love Doughnuts in Guardian Towers on Muroor Road – buy five doughnuts and you get five free, or a box of gelato. After all that eating you might not want a free fitness test at Crowne Fitness in Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi, but go anyway so you can work off your indulgences with a personal training session at the gym. At dinner time, enjoy a main course at Heroes at the same hotel. Once you’ve done all that you can relax over a beverage at Jazz’N Fizz at Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche.

Friday November 22
Skip breakfast to save space for an early brunch at 12.30pm at Porto Bello in the Grand Millennium Al Wahda Hotel, which comes with unlimited beverages and bubbly. Walk it off on the Corniche, then if you’re feeling a bit peckish later on swing by Soulfull on Muroor Road for a salad, sandwich or main course followed by a cupcake, cookie or brownie at Kitsch Cupcakes at The Souk Central Market on Khalifa Street. After that, make the most of your one-day pass at Health Club at Mafraq Hotel. In the evening, have a buffet dinner with soft drinks at The Olive Branch Restaurant in the same hotel, and afterwards head downtown to Le Méridien for a drink at their Fluid Friday beach party.

Saturday November 23
Treat yourself and a friend to a facial or body treatment at the Health Club at InterContinental Abu Dhabi, then lunch at Cho Gao in the Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi anytime from noon-4pm. If your clothes are getting tight with all these fancy meals, work off that extra chub in a B-Fit class at Bodylines at Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi or a group yoga class at Bodytree Studio on the corner of 11th and 26th streets. Can’t be bothered? Then have a Rasul mud treatment at Zen the Spa at Beach Rotana instead. Ladies, continue your beauty regime at Bellacure Nails at Al Mamoura or Marina Mall – pick from a manicure, pedicure and paraffin spa treatment, a 60-minute full-body Swedish massage or a haircut and blow dry. Finish your weekend with a buffet dinner at Gems at Cristal Hotel Abu Dhabi and drinks at Vincent’s Bar or Level Lounge in the Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi – and while you’re there you might as well use your vouchers to pick up a 1kg cake at Cappuccino’s to take home to share.

Sunday November 24
Meet a colleague at Kitsch Cupcakes at The Souk Central Market on Khalifa Street for an early morning coffee. Your voucher entitles you to a cupcake as well which you can save for later or scoff before work – it is a Sunday morning after all. While you’re there pick up 24 mini cupcakes for the price of 12 to keep your colleagues happy during the afternoon slump. For lunch, have a main course at Pappagallo at Le Méridien Abu Dhabi. After work head to Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi on Saadiyat and lay your vouchers out like a pack of cards: take your pick from a personalised hair treatment, scented pedicure, antioxidant body wrap or European deep cleanse at the hotel’s Atarmia Spa. After that, have a main course at Avasa The Indian Kitchen at The Collection at St. Regis Saadiyat Island.

Monday November 25
Start the day with a facial at Espa in the Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi, which is valid 10am-3pm. Have a wander around the marina before lunch, then opt for a main dish at Noodle Box 12.30pm-11pm or at Amici 12.30pm-3pm, both of which are also at the Viceroy. After that, relax over two-for-one bar snacks at Stills European Bar & Brasserie in Crowne Plaza Yas Island over the road, then have a slap-up three-course meal with a drink at Cipriani back at the marina, or head to Al Raha for a main course at Kababs & Kurries at Al Muneera followed by dessert at Zari Zardozi in Al Raha Mall. Live close to Hyatt Capital Gate Abu Dhabi? Then head to the hotel’s Privé restaurant instead for their Monday tapas night.

Tuesday November 26
Got a few days off work? Then check into the Majestic Desert Resort at the Tilal Liwa Hotel for a two-night stay and lounge by the pool. If that feels too lazy, you could try paddleboarding, wakeboarding or knee boarding in the afternoon at Le Méridien Abu Dhabi. Once you’ve worked up an appetite, have a main meal at Talay or Le Bistrot at the same hotel. Once that’s settled, check out the hotel’s spa, Eden – and get a 50-minute massage while you’re there. In the evening, have a pre-dinner drink at G Club, which is also in Le Méridien, then dine at La Mamma Italian restaurant at the Sheraton Abu Dhabi Hotel & Resort. Alternatively, after all those meals out, today could be the day to start your seven-day weightloss and detox programme with Kaya Peters, a yoga teacher and holistic coach.
For full details, check T&Cs on each voucher. All discounts are two-for-one unless otherwise stated on the voucher.
