Says cheers – because one of Dubai’s most popular pubs is to open a branch in Abu Dhabi.
Since first opening in Dubai three years ago, McGettigan’s has become one of the emirate’s best known watering holes – a fact solidified when the JLT venue picked up Time Out’s award for Best Pub earlier this year.
Since that 2010 launch the brand has expanded across the emirate, opening venues in Dubai World Trade Centre and Dubai Airport Terminal One – but now Mr McGettigan (and there really is one) is crossing borders to open his first pub in Abu Dhabi.
McGettigan’s Abu Dhabi will open its doors at The Al Raha Beach Hotel in February 2014.
‘The call of Abu Dhabi has been very strong over the years, but as we have expanded each time with a new venue in Dubai, the need to develop into Abu Dhabi has become even greater,’ said CEO of Bonnington and McGettigan’s Group, Dennis McGettigan.
‘Abu Dhabi is our main focus right now, we have a fabulous venue and we intend to bring that special McGettigan’s formula to the expats of Abu Dhabi, it is an exciting time’.
And what next? Mr McGettigan is not stopping there – there are now also venues open back on home turf in Dublin, Dubai and now Donegal, all in just three short years. Where will he go next?
In the meantime, it’s time for Abu Dhabi’s expats to raise a toast to McGettigan’s.
