Justin Timberlake to play Abu Dhabi 2014

After days of speculation May 23 gig confirmed for Yas Island

The Twittersphere has exploded with excitement at the news that Justin Timberlake is coming to the UAE.

Many have been eagerly anticipating the news after a teaser trailer did the rounds last week, showing a silhouette of the star followed by the message ‘#JTUAE’, followed by ‘09.01.2014’ – the date the concert was formally confirmed.

But any fans worried it was a hoax will be relieved to hear today’s news.

So now its official: Justin Timberlake will play Abu Dhabi’s du Arena, Yas Island on Friday May 23.

Fans broke out in joy across the Twittersphere.

‏@ThBigBingTheory tweeted simply ‘That’s insane’.

Justin Timberlake shocked critics last year with a well-received return to music after a seven year hiatus in Hollywood.

In 2013 the singer released three discs of mature disco and funk influenced pop across the The 20/20 Experience and a follow-up, double disc sequel, which saw the former ‘N Sync man move away from his bubblegum roots to command real respect as a songwriter and stylist.

The first of the two albums sold more than half a million copies digitally, and was 2013’s bestselling album in the US. It’s funky, too.

It’s clear the 2014 date will see a very different man and artist to the JT we saw last saw onstage on these shores, at Emirates Palace in 2007.

Tickets will go on sale at noon on Thursday January 16 from www.ticketmaster.ae and selected Virgin Megastores across the UAE.

Justin Timberlake’s all-new fan club, The Tennessee Kids (#TNKids), and MasterCard holders will both have access to a pre-sale starting at noon on January 13.

Meanwhile existing du and Flash customers will have access to pre-sale tickets from noon on January 14.
