Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship

2014 martial arts showdown will feature a children’s cup

The Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship will take place from April 15-19.

Organisers announced on Monday (February 17) that the event would be extended to include a two-day childrens’ event, where more than 50 children will compete in the World Jiu-Jitsu Children’s Cup.

The competition is in its sixth year and organisers are hoping 2014 will be the biggest yet, with audience interaction reaching a new high.

An online competition inviting audience members to contribute the ‘best photo posted on social media’ will carry a Dhs10,000 cash prize, while a raffle will offer attendees the chance to win one of two brand new cars – a Jaguar XF 3.0S or a Land Rover LR2 HSE. The championships will see competitors from more than 15 countries, and the winners will receive a total of Dhs1.56 million in prize money.

The Children’s Cup will take place April 15-16 and the championships will take place April 17-19.
