Get connected in Abu Dhabi

How to get water, electricity, internet and more essential services

Water & Electricity
The Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC) in Al Dhafrah is responsible for water and electricity connections. Visit the office on 9th Street, between 6th and Salam Streets, with a Dhs1,000 deposit, your lease and the clearance letter from the previous tenant, provided by your new landlord. Connections take up to 48 hours.

Gas
The district metering and revenue collection firm, Dimarco, is the most popular company that provides bottled gas. Expect to pay a Dhs500 deposit.

Air conditioning
Older buildings rely on electrical units or a central air conditioning system, and require no addition bills or deposits other than your usual electricity bill. Newer buildings rely on a district cooling system, otherwise known as a chilled water system – so a cooling plant that chills the air will be in the building. Dimarco takes remote automatic metre readings. A deposit is approximately Dhs1,500 for villas or Dhs1,000 for apartments, depending on which area you live in.

Internet
The mobile phone and internet provider, Etisalat, will come to your new home to set up your internet connection. No deposit is required. Expect it to take about 48 hours.
