Get your skates on: The capital’s only group dedicated to the competitive rollerskating sport roller derby is hosting a bootcamp for newbies, intermediate and advanced skaters. Pad up à la Ellen Page in the 2009 film Whip It, and if you enjoy it, join their training on Monday and Wednesday nights.

Embrace Emirati heritage: Join a new one-and-a-half-hour culture and history tour on Sir Bani Yas Island. You’ll meet wildlife in Arabian Wildlife Park, visit a seventh century pre-Islamic monastery, learn about the Bani Yas tribe and plant a mangrove tree. You can also try dates in a coffee ceremony.
