Bus trouble

Have you heard about the new superbus? Apparetnly it zips between Abu Dhabi and Dubai at the speed of light

Bus trouble
Amidst a flurry of press releases, the RTA recently announced the launch of its latest venture, a fully equipped super bus that – for a mere Dhs20 – will zip you between Dubai and Abu Dhabi in unprecedented luxury. These futuristic machines promise greater leg-room, working air-conditioning and, somewhat improbably, wi-fi access.

Trouble is, nobody’s every sure where they are. It seems that the authority have spent so much time on hi-tech spec, they’ve forgotten to draw up a working timetable. Arriving at Al Gubaibah bus station recently, we were told, ‘that bus hasn’t been seen today. It could be here in one hour, it could be here tomorrow.’

World’s biggest cushion
Following on from last year’s successful exhibition, the Interiors UAE event held at ADNEC between March 29 and April 1 will attempt to outdo itself with a world record attempt on the world’s largest cushion. Luxury Cushions, an exhibitor at the event, will be sewing together a humongous comforter boasting a length and breadth of 32ft, a height of 4ft, and a weight of 200kg.

According to a spokesperson for the event, the design will feature, ‘whirling dervishes and other Middle Eastern motifs.’ On completion, an official from the Guinness Book of Records will be flown in to pronounce the verdict, before the cushion tours the UAE.
