Get Hurling

We’ve always liked the sound of hurling, aside from the fear that it may be a tad violent, here’s how to do it

If, like us, you’ve heard of hurling but couldn’t really say what it does, now’s your chance to get up to speed. A frantic game vaguely related to hockey, hurling is already popular in Abu Dhabi, played at local league level by the GAA.

As good as the locals are, however, there’s no substitute for seeing it played professionally, so Etihad Airways are flying in Ireland’s top two teams, Connacht and Leinster, to compete in the M.Donnelly Inter-Provincial Hurling Championship Final on Saturday March 14, at Ghantoot Racing and Polo Club. Aside from watching the final, visitors will be able to try out the equipment and learn a bit more about this historic Gaelic sport. Tickets, as always, are available from www.timeouttickets.com.
