Avoid Thailand

Don’t travel to Thailand, say UAE, UK, Australia and Canadian embassies

Anti-government riots in the Thai capital Bangkok have led embassies to encourage us not to visit for the time being. Visitors who are already in Thailand have been told to stay indoors.

In fresh protests today at least 70 protesters were hurt in clashes with soldiers who fired shots in the air and used tear gas and water cannons to disperse protesters.

Although the government has declared a state of emergency, protesters have controlled many streets in the capital. The government has moved to secure key infrastructure, including airports and ports.

Police said protesters are concentrated in at least half a dozen points in the city, including the prime minister’s office and several major intersections.
