Everything you need to know about Abu Dhabi’s free film festival

Fancy a film?

We love movies, seriously, we can’t get enough.

We’re always up for watching a film, especially if there is popcorn involved.

Plus with Abu Dhabi now being home to distraction-free screenings and an all-new IMAX screen there are even more options for film fans.

Up for a film? We had you at popcorn didn’t we?

Free film festival Yas Movies in the Park returns to the city from October 17 to 19 at du Arena and there are loads of films showing on the big screen.

Plus with food trucks, entertainment, activities, a kids’ zone and competitions, there’s plenty going on away from the screen too.

So what’s happening during the event?

First up on Thursday October 17, from 4pm, you can catch (them all) Pokemon Detective Pikachu and the live-action remake of Disney’s Aladdin.

Next, on Friday October 18, you can see Moana from 6pm before a live immersive cinema experience of The Greatest Showman starts the sing song from 8.30pm.

Finally, on Saturday October 19, heroes can assemble on Yas Island for a superhero costume competition to win prizes and a screening of Avengers: Endgame at 8.45pm that will follow a showing of Beauty and the Beast at 6pm.

To get your free passes you simply have to register at www.yasmovies.ae, where you can also find the full schedule.

Or, if you want to really make a night of it, you can upgrade to VIP tickets with prices starting from Dhs65. This gets you a premium spot, bean bag, two soft drinks and popcorn.

Doors are open from 4pm to midnight, and it’s the perfect way to celebrate the start of the season of cooler weather here in Abu Dhabi.
