A long-suffering record exec (Hill) is tasked with delivering Russell’s rock legend to the titular LA theatre. This is Brand’s movie all the way: he’s the one throwing the huge tantrums and getting the lion’s
share of the laughs.
And the laughs are big: the film has a manic, propulsive intensity that culminates in a series of excessive and hilarious comic setpieces, but it also has a big soft heart. This will come as no surprise to followers of the modern American man-com, but Get Him to the Greek delivers a surprisingly raw, thoughtful take on the obligatory ‘aw-shucks’ ending.
