This kids’ animation is the sequel to A Turtle’s Tale, a lacklustre Belgium family fest enlivened only by a hilariously inappropriate English voiceover from latter-day legend John Hurt. No such luck this time, with seasoned voice pros Pat Carroll and Carlos McCullers II taking the leads.
Eponymous turtle Sammy is a typical ‘kid on a quest’; the 2010 original was little more than a rehash of Finding Nemo, spiced up with a Eurotrash-style vocal performance. By saving the dough and ramping for voiceover regulars instead, we reckon this will be like eating yesterday’s dinner without the spice that made it palatable in the first place.
