What to expect from the upcoming Nicolas Cage flick

Will (Cage) is a con fresh out the clink. He meets up with old lovers and calls in on his teenage daughter who, surprisingly, wants little to do with her thievin’, good-for-nothing pa. Then Will burns millions of dollars of cash. Presumably, it’s dirty loot he’d stashed before the lock-up, and he’s going straight. So far, so corny. Then Will gets a call out of the blue from his old partner in crime, a long-haired bad guy with a perpetual cringe across his forehead. Turns out Cringey (Lucas)wants his share of the dough. When Will can’t cough up he does what any righteous scorn of morality would do: he kidnaps Will’s daughter, stashing her in the back of a cab and embarking on a Speed-style tour of the city’s sights. Our reformed hero now has 12 hours to steal ten big ones before you-know-what, fighting against the law and the mob in pursuit of the greater good.

Directed by Simon West – Con Air, The Expendables 2 – you’re in predictable but safe hands. No alarms. No surprises. But plenty of silly action thrills.
