Annette

This film promises to be a cinematic experience, and based on the trailer, there seems to be no other way to describe it. It is about a stand-up comedian who falls in love with a world-renowned opera singer. Under the spotlight they become a passionate and glamorous couple, and with the birth of their daughter their lives are turned upside down as they realise her destiny. You’ll have to watch the trailer to see what we mean. The movie is out on Thursday August 12 and is rated 18.

Anything for Jackson

If you like horror movies there’s a creepy new one coming out this weekend. Anything for Jackson is about a couple who is grieving their deceased grandson, and it only gets weirder from there. The film is out on Thursday August 12 and stars Sheila McCarthy, Julian Richings, and Konstantina Mantelos. It is rated 18.

Free Guy

If you’re looking for an epic adventure-comedy starring one of the most famous actors, Ryan Reynolds, you’ve come to the right place. Guy is a bank teller who discovers he’s actually a background player in an open-world video game. He decides to become the hero of his own story by rewriting what he can and can’t do and becomes determined to save his world his way… before it’s too late. If you’re looking for a fun romp this is the perfect lighthearted pick for the weekend. It was directed by Shawn Levy and written by Matt Lieberman and Zak Penn. The film hits UAE cinemas on Thursday August 12 and is rated PG15.

Old

If you’re a fan of visionary filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan, you won’t be able to look away from this mysterious new thriller. A family goes on a tropical holiday, only to discover that the secluded beach where they are relaxing for a few hours is causing them to age rapidly – reducing their lives to a single day. M. Night Shyamalan is the creator of other famous films such as Split, The Sixth Sense, and Unbreakable. The film is hitting UAE theatres on August 12 and is rated 18 plus.

Rogue Hostage

Have you ever wondered what you would do in a hostage situation? For us it would be nothing like the hero in Rogue Hostage, who decides to take things into his own hands when he and his daughter are held hostage in a neighbourhood store. Former marine, Kyle Snowden played by Tyrese Gibson isn’t having any of this hostage victim stuff. The film was directed by John Keeyes and stars Holly Taylor, Lauren Valez, and John Malkovich. It releases on August 12 and is rated 18.

Turu the Wacky Hen

This cute film is about a talking hen who gets adopted by a music teacher. When they are separated, Turu must find her way back to the music teacher with the help of her new friends from the circus. One for the kiddos, for sure.
