Who doesn’t a trip to the cinema?

When we’re not exploring the city or dining at the newest restaurants, you’re guaranteed to find us at the cinema (and most likely with an extra-large tub of popcorn, salt and caramel mix, always).

If you – like us – love watching the latest blockbusters in the comfort of one of the UAE’s many cinemas, we’ve rounded up three of the biggest films hitting the cinemas this weekend.

If you’re looking to take your next cinema outing to a new level, here are the ultimate Dubai cinema experiences to book, right now.

Prisoners of the Ghostland

Having already premiered at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year (and with plenty of positive reviews), Prisoners of the Ghostland is finally hitting UAE cinemas this weekend on Thursday September 2. The neo-noir western action film Nicolas Cage, Nick Cassavetes, Bill Moseley and Sofia Boutella and tells the story of a notorious criminal who must rescue a girl who has mysteriously disappeared.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

Love Marvel? Then this is the movie for you. The American superhero film (which is also Marvel’s first movie with an Asian-American lead) is based on the Marvel Comic featuring the film’s namesake character. Shang-Chi (played by Simu Liu) is forced to confront his past after being drawn into the Ten Rings organisation. Director and co-writer Destin Daniel Cretton nails it with comedic ease and big laughs but when the action hits, it comes from seemingly nowhere in thrilling fashion. The movie is out on Thursday September 2 and is rated PG13.

Till Death

After an evening in their secluded lakehouse, Emma (played by Megan Fox) wakes up to find herself in a bit of a situation. Trapped and isolated in the middle of nowhere (and in the middle of winter), she must fight off hired killers to escape her husband’s twisted plan. Directed by S.K. Dale in his directorial debut, the American horror also stars Callan Mulvey, Eoin Macken and Lili Rich. Ready for a spook? Till Death is hitting UAE cinemas on Thursday September 2 and is rated PG15.
