When blockbuster movies will be released in the UAE

No Time To Die, Dune and Black Widow have been delayed

It’s been a year of change and unpredictability and with all the changes in release dates for Hollywood blockbusters it’s exactly the same.

We’ve seen films pushed back indefinitely as shooting came to a halt and promotional campaigns stopped. But, while we have been treated to some new releases this year, including Christopher Nolan’s Tenet, many of the films we were excited to see will not come out.

In other cases, the likes of Mulan enjoyed a limited cinema release while appearing on the streaming service Disney+.

So what’s the latest with the films that were originally scheduled for release in 2020 and when can we expect to see them in cinemas? Read on to find out.

A Quiet Place Part 2

The first one kept us on the edge of our seats and we were excited to see the sequel hit screens in March. As you already know, that didn’t happen and now the film is expected to be released in April 2021.

Black Widow

Marvel films are always a big deal and with this being the first to hit screens in 2020 there was huge excitement surrounding the first female-led standalone movie in the MCU. Instead of enjoying a May 11 release date this year the film will now reach a global audience on May 7 2021.

Dune

Abu Dhabi’s desert is featured in this reimagining of the novel by Frank Herbert and as fans of the original, despite its poor graphics by today’s standards, we were excited to see it hits screens in December this year. Now the film will be released on October 1 2021.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife

This sequel, prequel, or reimagining… Actually, we’re not sure what it is but we do know it was originally set to hit screen on July 10 this year but will now be in theatres March 5 2021.

Godzilla vs. Kong

Even if you don’t love monster movies, we’re pretty sure you will be curious to see what happens when a giant ape takes on a massive lizard. We predict a whole of smashing, bashing and crashing in this one when it comes out on May 21 2021, delayed from November 20 this year.

No Time To Die

It was quite possibly the most anticipated film of 2020, as Daniel Craig returns for his final outing as 007, and Academy Award winner Rami Malek takes on the role of villain. After being moved to November 2020 from May 2020 the film will fianlly hit screens on April 2 2021.

Top Gun: Maverick

In a world where sequels, prequels, spin-offs and remakes are commonplace, it was only a matter of time before Top Gun soared back into action. In the cockpit, Tom Cruise revisits the role of Maverick in this long awaited sequel. It’s now expected to be released on July 2021 instead of the original release date of June 2020.

The Eternals

It’s the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and sees new characters and massive names enter the frame, including Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Kit Harrington and a very buff-looking Kumail Nanjiani. We’re intrigued to see how this one pans out in a post Avengers: Endgame world when it’s released on November 5 2021.

West Side Story

Big screen adaptions of plays have worked for the likes of Les Miserables and others but let’s just not talk about Cats. Anyway, this adaptation will hit the silver screen on December 10 2021 after being moved from December this year.
