Must-see movies in UAE cinemas this weekend

The King’s Man is coming out

It’s the long weekend, and aside from New Year’s Eve parties and brunch, another great way to spend your days off is at the movies – with as many movie snacks as you can carry, of course (cheese and caramel mix with a large slushie, please).

Looking for the best movies to watch this weekend in the UAE?

We’ve got everything you need to know about all the latest releases.

The King’s Man

Looking for an old-fashioned action film to kick off this New Year’s weekend? The King’s Man has finally hit UAE cinemas. The film serves as a prequel to the previous two Kingsman films and follows the birth of the Kingsman organisation. It’s based on the comic book, The Secret Service by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons. The cast includes Ralph Fiennes, Matthew Goode and Tom Hollander and takes place around WWI.
Rated PG 15.

The Matrix Resurrections

The original Matrix movies redefined the genre, and now Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss are back in their iconic roles: Neo and Trinity. We’ve heard that the latest installment doesn’t expect you to remember the previous films in order to follow the plot: a generous move, considering how long it’s been since the last one came out.
Rated PG 15.

Spider-Man: No Way Home

Looking for yet another hotly anticipated Marvel film to watch? Spider-Man’s identity has been revealed for the first time in cinematic history, putting everyone he loves at risk. When he enlists Doctor Strange’s help to restore his secret, they tear a hole in the world, releasing the most powerful villains who’ve ever fought a Spider-Man in any universe. Our spidey senses are tingling.

Encanto

Taking the kids to the cinema this weekend? Encanto features music by Lin-Manuel Miranda, and is about a whole family with secret powers, all except for Mirabel, who is ordinary. Can she save her family’s powers when they’re put under threat? Head to the theatre to find out.
