From a unique kids film to a scream-worthy reboot

There’s really nothing better than a day at the movies. When you’re not out discovering the city’s best restaurants and bars or trying the latest sporting activities, head to the cinema. Whether you’re after action and adventure, something for the entire family, or an enriching historical drama, the movies should have it – and snacks.

Love watching the latest blockbusters in the comfort of one of the UAE’s many cinemas? We’ve rounded up five of the biggest films hitting the cinemas this weekend.

Scream

Ghostface is back, 25 years later. After a streak of brutal murders shocked the quiet town of Woodsboro, a new killer has donned the Ghostface mask. The killer is targeting a group of local teenagers and Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette return to their iconic roles to help the teens stay alive. This latest slasher film looks a little more grim than previous versions. Get ready to scream.

The Secrets We Keep

This weekend in UAE cinemas there’s a new historical drama to see. A Romanian refugee is rebuilding her life with her husband in America 15 years after WWII when she kidnaps her neighbour, believing he committed heinous war crimes against her. When the man insists he isn’t the same person who hurt her, she and her husband do what they can to discover the truth.

The 355

Four international agents. One top-secret weapon in mercenary hands. If you’re looking for a new action film to watch this weekend you can’t go wrong with The 355. Will the agents be able to stay a step ahead of the mysterious woman who is tracking their every move? Will there be car chases, explosions and interrogations? You’ll have to head to the movies to find out. We’re seeing this film for the star-studded cast alone (Jessica Chastain, Penélope Cruz, Fan Bingbing, Diane Kruger and Lupita Nyong’o are all starring).
Rated PG15.

Trash

This is a trash film, but not in the way you might think. If you’re taking the kiddos to the cinema this weekend, check out this cute film about garbage. Slim is a cardboard box who is resigned to being discarded, until a toy box, Spark, comes along and takes him on an adventure.
Rated PG.

Spider-Man: No Way Home

Looking for yet another hotly anticipated Marvel film to watch? Spider-Man’s identity has been revealed for the first-ever time in cinematic history. When he enlists Doctor Strange’s help to restore his secret, disaster ensues, including the release of a powerful villains. Can Spidey save the day?
