David’s surname is pronounced ‘getta’ – and if you ever meet him, simply getting it right should be enough to cheer him up. Apparently, very few people do.

After Guetta remixed ‘Heroes’, which was later released as ‘Just Another Day’, he got a call from Bowie’s agent, who told him that the thin white duke is something of a fan. We’d love to see Bowie bouncing up and down at Creamfields. Can someone make this happen? Please?
He was at the forefront of the house revolution in France.
As he was developing his career, David became one of the first people to bring the likes of Little Louie Vega, David Morales and Roger Sanchez to French clubbers. They weren’t famous back then, though that actually makes it more impressive, when you think about it: this means the man knows how to use his ears.
He was signed in the US because of a case of mistaken identity.
While playing at a UK festival in 2002, David ended up sharing a car with Paul Oakenfold. When David’s track, ‘The World is Mine’, came on the radio, Oakenfold expressed his admiration for it. As Guetta explained to About.com: ‘He said “Oh I love this track, is that Depeche Mode?” And I said “No, this is my track.” “Oh you made a remix of Depeche Mode?” “No, no, Paul – this is my track.” He was like, “Wow, really?”’ It wound up working well for Guetta, as Oakenfold ended up releasing his album, Guetta Blaster, in the US.

David held his first-ever gig when he was just 15, in the basement of his parents’ house. He invited everyone from his school and charged them one Franc to get in. We applaud mini-Guetta’s business brains.

At the 2010 edition of France’s NRJ Music Awards, David hinted that he would be working with a well-known Barbadian singer. Since there aren’t that many major singers from Barbados, it wasn’t long before someone managed to twist his arm and he admitted that a collaboration with Rihanna is on the cards.
