Will.i.am at Dubai Music Week

Key tracks from the Black Eyed Peas main man

Black Eyed Peas’ frontman Will.i.am rose to superstardom in 2002 with the hip-hop pop band’s breakthrough single ‘Where Is The Love?’. Since then the music producer, songwriter and artist has been consistently successful, selling more than 55 million records along the way. Like Timbaland, will.i.am, real name William James Adams, has worked with most of the big names in the business, including David Guetta, U2, Nicki Minaj and Earth, Wind & Fire.

Key tracks
Black Eyed Peas – ‘I Gotta Feeling’
Produced by David Guetta, this unashamedly poppy ear worm has all of the traits that see the Black Eyed Peas shift records by the bucket load. With its universal lyrics (‘a feeling, woohoo, that tonight’s gonna be a good night’) there aren’t too many of us that can’t relate to the sentiment. While it may not be the most profound material, if we all knew how to create such catchy ditties, there would be no need to go to the day job.

Black Eyed Peas – ‘Boom Boom Pow’
The group’s first American number one, despite the fairly ridiculous chorus and equally baffling pretensions of moving music forward to the year ‘three thousand and eight’, with its electronic blips, clicks and buzzes, is certainly memorable. A true Marmite of a song, you’ll either love it or hate it.
Will.i.am will be performing as part of the All Stars – Live DJ Performance. Dhs550-Dhs2,200. 10pm, September 26, Dubai World Trade Centre Arena, Sheikh Zayed Road, www.ticketmaster.ae
