Abu Dhabi’s redevelopment of Al Zahiyah is now complete

Works at the old Tourist Club Area have now finished

Let’s be honest, it’s been tough driving through Al Zahiyah in recent years.

The traffic, the ever-changing construction, and the new road systems have been a source of frustration for many, but thankfully that’s now a thing of the past.

Abu Dhabi Municipality (ADM) has announced that the Al Zahiyah Development Project is now complete after an investment of Dhs28.8m in the area.

The project spans a total of 43,300 square metres of minor roads and 277,500 square metres of streets – basically the whole area around Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Mall and between the bridges over to Al Maryah Island.

It took several years to complete, with the aim of improving traffic flow, redeveloping pedestrian walkways and infrastructure including street lighting, telecommunications, traffic signs and water and electricity.

So if you’re heading to Al Zahiyah any time soon it’s sure to be a less stressful trip than it has been in the recent past, with a redesigned road network and two more bridges taking you to Al Maryah Island.

It looks great, too. Well done to everyone involved.
