Dubai to build one of the world’s largest cruise ports

Dubai Cruise Terminal set to be the first-ever cruise port in the region

An absolutely massive cruise harbour is coming to Dubai Marina, and it’s going to be the region’s first-ever dedicated cruise port.

Located between the Palm and Bluewaters, the Dubai Cruise Terminal will be operated by Meraas and will form part of Dubai Harbour, the massive new development that’s currently being constructed off the coast of Dubai Marina.

Naturally, it will become the region’s main hub for cruise liners and ships visiting the area, and will feature a 1km-long quay, comprised of two main cruise terminal buildings. The 300,000sq ft terminal will accommodate two “mega” cruise ships simultaneously – hosting a capacity of more than 15,000 guests, but it will also provide a striking architectural addition to the city’s coastline.

“This world-class addition to the city’s tourism infrastructure comes in-line with the Dubai Tourism Strategy 2020 that focuses on making the emirate the first choice for international leisure and business travelers,” Meraas said in a statement.

It comes as the Cruise Lines Industry Association reports that more than 40 million cruise passengers are expected to travel annually by 2030, and is expected to contribute more than Dhs1.5 billion to Dubai’s economy over the next decade.
