Work on Expo 2020 Dubai’s central pavilion has been completed

The Al Wasl Plaza is the show’s centerpiece, and is now officially open

There are now less than eight months to go until the long-awaited Expo 2020 Dubai, and the huge site in Dubai South is edging ever closer to completion. Now, a major landmark in the preparation of the site has been successfully completed.

Set to be the centerpiece of the Expo 2020 Dubai site, which opens its doors to the public on Tuesday October 20, Al Wasl Plaza has officially been completed. It was officially inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, alongside His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

Their highnesses were officially briefed about role of Al Wasl Plaza at Expo 2020 Dubai – it will be the centerpiece pavilion connecting the three main districts during the event. Each connecting district will play on the themes of Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed said the show will help the UAE demonstrate its spirit of collaboration on a global stage.

“Through Expo 2020 Dubai, we will show the world how our union was the starting point for our development journey, and how our founding fathers established the robust foundations necessary for sustainable development and progress,” he said. “We will also have an opportunity to demonstrate how the spirit of collaboration is embedded deep in our national ethos and serves as a means for progress and development.”

An Emirati-designed Pavilion named The Good Place, is set to be constructed at Expo 2020’s Opportunity District, which will help showcase global innovations – read more about it here.
