Businesses in Dubai to reopen from 6am to 11pm from Wednesday

Gyms, cinemas and other attractions will resume in Dubai this week

Businesses in Dubai will gradually begin to reopen with no restrictions on movement between 6am to 11pm from Wednesday May 27.

The UAE government announced tonight (Monday 25) that businesses in the Emirate will be reopened with the new set opening hours. Current hours of the National Sterilisation programme run from 8pm until 6am each evening.

The news was announced during a virtual meeting with Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management led by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council.

Arabian Business reports that gyms and cinemas will also reopen from Wednesday (May 27), as well as education and training centres, entertainment facilities such as ice rinks and dolphinariums among other attractions that have been closed since the lockdown was introduced in March.

However, children under the age of 12 will still not be allowed access and everyone must follow social distancing precautionary measures like wearing face masks and standing at least two metres from one another.

The decision to reopen was reached after evaluating the current health, economic and social state of Dubai and has been encouraged after the number of new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the UAE fell for the second day in a row on Sunday (May 24).
