Driver in Abu Dhabi will have to pay for pubic parking once more from July 1.
The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) of the Department of Municipalities and Transport has announced that Mawaqif will come back into force at 8am that day.
Parking has been free for three months.
People are asked to pay using digital platforms, the Darb app is available on the Apple store or you can pay by SMS.
You need to send an SMS to 3009 from an Etisalat or du number with the following format.
(City Code and Plate Category) SPACE (Plate Number) SPACE (Standard or Premium Parking) SPACE (Duration in hours).
You’ll be charged for one SMS based on your provider’s tariff.
Mawaqif fees can also be paid with cash or rechargeable cards, while the machines will be sterilised daily.
Paid parking runs from 8am to midnight Saturday to Thursday. If you are in an area with blue and white kerbs, it is Dhs3 per hour with a maximum stay of four hours.
If the kerb is blue and black, the rate is Dhs2 per hour or Dhs15 per day.
There are no fees on Fridays, official holidays and for people of determination.
Parking spaces near mosques are exempted from parking fees for 45 minutes from the call to prayer.
Parking spaces in residential areas are dedicated to resident parking permit holders living in that sector. You can apply for a resident permit here or at Customer’s Happiness Centres across the city.
