NYU Abu Dhabi awards ten grants to mitigate the impact of COVID-19

Research could have a significant impact

NYU Abu Dhabi has announce the award of ten research grants to investigate how to mitigate the impact of COVID-19.

With local and global implications, ten selected products will focus on a range of research areas including medical approaches to detection, diagnostic tools, understanding transmission, data collection and more.

The projects once complete could have a significant impact in the UAE and around the world in the fight to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Abu Dhabi and the UAE, much like many countries around the globe, went into lockdown in March this year as part of preventative measures to protect public health.

“A global problem demands a global response. Over the past several months, NYU Abu Dhabi has moved rapidly to deploy its considerable academic and research expertise in the fight against this pandemic,” said NYUAD Provost Fabio Piano.

Partnerships and coordination with local entities and institutions are a vital component in supporting broader efforts to address the pandemic and resulting challenges, and we are confident that these research projects designed to respond to the challenge of the virus in the UAE and around the world will pave the way for new insight and new approaches to better understand, address, and manage the impact of COVID-19.”
