Vox Cinemas launch sensory-friendly screenings across UAE

New experiences help kids enjoy going to the cinema

We all have special memories of catching a flick at the cinema.

Sticky floors and loud (rude) people on their phones aside, there’s nothing quite like heading into a dimly-lit theatre to watch a good movie with a bucket of popcorn.

Helping to make cinemagoing more inclusive, a UAE cinema chain has announced new sensory screening options across the country, in partnership with Dubai Autism Center.

Vox Cinemas has introduced screenings at six locations across the country including Mall of the Emirates, Yas Mall, City Centre Sharjah, City Centre Fujairah, Al Jimi Mall, and City Centre Ajman, and they’ll take place every Saturday at noon.

During the screenings, lights will not be dimmed, the sound will be quieter, and less people will be allowed into the theatre.

In addition, all pre-film advertisements and trailers will not be shown.

The specially-designed experience aims to help children with sensory needs enjoy going to the movies and feel relaxed and comfortable while watching a film.

Children below the age of three can watch for free but will still have to book a ticket.

Films will be family-friendly or animation.
