All private school teachers and staff in the emirate of Sharjah must undergo a PCR test every 14 days, and at their own expense.
The news comes from WAM, the UAE government news source, reporting on a circular from The Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA).
Teachers and school staff who have received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine are exempt from the mandatory testing.
Anyone who can provide a medical report exempting them from taking the vaccine due to an illness or health condition should have the cost of the test paid for by the educational institution they work for.
The Sharjah Private Education Authority issued a circular to owners and directors of private educational institutions in Sharjah saying:
“Based on the developments related to COVID-19, and with the aim to ensure the safety of all workers and students in private educational institutions in the emirate, all workers in educational institutions must conduct the nasal swab (PCR examination) for workers in educational institutions every 14 days at their own expense, with the exception of workers who have obtained the COVID-19 vaccine (two doses).”
If anyone working in a private educational institution needs to visit Sharjah Private Education Authority’s headquarters, they must also present a negative COVID-19 test that’s been taken within 72 hours prior to the visit.
