Sharjah has announced new measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.
All announced changes came into effect at midnight on Tuesday February 9.
The Sharjah Economic Department announced that capacity limits and safety measures will be implemented at entertainment centres, malls and restaurants.
According to the announcement, cinema and entertainment centres must not exceed 50 percent capacity and a social distance of two metres must be observed by all individuals.
A capacity limit of 60 percent has been placed on malls and shopping centres, where social distancing must be observed and masks must be worn at all times.
In restaurants, all tables must be at least two metres apart and no more than four people are allowed to sit at one table except for members of the same family.
For gyms and fitness centres, venues must not exceed a capacity of 50 percent and masks must be worn at all times.
In Abu Dhabi, similar preventative measures have also been announced including capacity limits on restaurants, malls and hotels while cinemas are now temporarily closed.
Elsewhere in the UAE a new vaccination drive has set the target of vaccinating vulnerable people in the country.
Elderly people and those with chronic diseases are invited to be vaccinated in the next four to six weeks to protect individuals and wider society.
The UAE has set a target of vaccinating half of the country’s population by the end of Q1 and as of Saturday February 6 more than 4 million people have received the vaccine.
