Sharjah launches drones to urge people to spread awareness of COVID-19 protocols

The public is also being encouraged to vaccinate

A new awareness campaign has been launched In Sharjah.

Sharjah Government, in cooperation with the Air Wing Department of the General Directorate of Security Support at the Ministry of Interior, is using high-tech methods to spread awareness and boost the vaccination drive.

Air patrols have been launched in the emirate to monitor compliance with COVID-19 guidelines including social distancing with images being sent to Sharjah Police.

As well as ensuring safety measures are adhered to, the drones are also being used to spread messages in multiple languages.

In particular the drones are being used to encourage residents and citizens to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

Sharjah recently announced new regulations to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Currently, cinema and entertainment centres must not exceed 50 percent capacity, a capacity limit of 60 percent has been placed on malls and shopping centres, and in gyms and fitness centres, venues must not exceed a capacity of 50 percent.

The announcements followed similar regulations being introduced in other emirates including Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah.

Elsewhere in the UAE a new vaccination drive has set the target of vaccinating vulnerable people in the country.
