Half of the UAE population is now vaccinated

It’s a major milestone for the Emirates

More than half the UAE population has now received the COVID-19 vaccine, in a major milestone for the Emirates.

The UAE is approaching seven million vaccinations, with jabs being given at more than 205 medical centres around the country.

According to the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA), 52.46 percent of the target group population have now received the vaccine.

And more than 70 percent (70.21 percent to be exact) of people with chronic health conditions – as well as the elderly – have had the jab.

The national vaccination effort has put the UAE among the world’s leading nations in terms of recovery, with NCEMA describing the latest milestone as a “positive step”.

“These numbers reflect the tremendous efforts made by our health sector and our heroic teams to provide the utmost protection and maintain public health,” said H.E Abdulrahman Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention.

“It is also an indication of the strength of the medical and health systems in the UAE. We are working hard to succeed in providing the vaccine to 100% of our people.”

Vaccines are currently available to over 40s, at centres across the UAE. All COVID-19 vaccinations are free.
