The ban on travel from the UAE to the Philippines has been extended until Tuesday August 31, Filipino authorities have confirmed.
The UAE is on a list of seven countries currently excluded from touching down in the Southeast Asian country, alongside India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Oman.
Travel from these destinations has been temporarily suspended since late April.
A statement from Filipino carrier Cebu Pacific said: “Cebu Pacific has cancelled its flights to and from Dubai from August 1 until 31, 2021, to ensure that its operations restart smoothly and safely. This schedule realignment is geared toward avoiding any last-minute changes that could cause inconvenience to our passengers.”
Passengers who have transited through the UAE or any of the other countries in the 14 days prior to their arrival in the Philippines will also be denied entry.
The UAE has itself imposed similar measures on India, with flights to and from the subcontinent grounded until at least Saturday August 7.
However, travel options in the rest of the world are continuing to open up, particularly for those who have received both doses of their vaccine.
