Mauritius to welcome vaccinated travellers from next month

You’ll be able to visit the stunning Indian Ocean island from July 15

Mauritius is set to welcome vaccinated travellers from next month.

From Thursday July 15, those who have received the required dose(s) of a COVID-19 vaccine authorised by the World Health Organisation will be able to enter the island in the Indian Ocean.

This means anyone who has received two doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna, Oxford/Astrazeneca, Sinovac or Sinopharm, or a single dose of Johnson & Johnson, can visit.

You will need a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken between five to seven days before departure, and will need to stay in one of the COVID-19 safe resorts.

On arrival, you will have a second COVID-19 test, and will need to self-isolate until the results come in.

After that, you will be able to relax on the beach and use all hotel facilities, excluding the spa.

On the seventh and fourteenth day of your stay, you will have further PCR tests. A negative result on day 14 will mean you are free to explore the rest of the island.

From Sunday June 20, you will be able to find a list of approved hotels on mauritiusnow.com.

The first phase of reopening will run from July 15 until Thursday September 30. From Friday October 1, Mauritius will be fully open to vaccinated travellers.

You will be able to stay in any hotel, and explore the island and its attractions throughout your holiday.

For entry after October 1, you will need to present a negative PCR test taken 72 hours before departure.
