Green pass on Alhosn app temporarily suspended

It will be reinstated when the app is updated

The newly introduced green pass on Alhosn app – which allows those in Abu Dhabi to enter venues including hotels, restaurants and malls – has been temporarily suspended in Abu Dhabi due to “technical issues” on the app.

“For the public’s convenience, the committee announced that it has temporarily suspended the use of green on Alhosn app to enter all announced areas. The green pass will be reinstated after completing the app update and ensuring the continuity of the app service for all users,” read a statement from Abu Dhabi Media Office.

New rules were introduced on Tuesday June 15 by the Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee (NCEMA), meaning that a green pass on the Alhosn app would be required to enter many venues including shopping malls, large supermarkets, restaurants, bars, cafes, museums, cinemas entertainment centres, hotels, public parks, public beaches and private pools and beaches (for more, click here).

However, the system has been temporarily paused due to “technical issues” on the Alhosn app.

“Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee has reviewed the causes of technical issues faced by some Alhosn app users, resulting from a surge in new subscriptions, and has overseen efforts by the app’s team to restore the service to all users as quickly as possible,” reads a tweet from Abu Dhabi Media Office.

“The committee appeals to the public to continue to adhere to preventive and precautionary measures, stressing that their safety is a top priority. It also expressed its appreciation to all members of society for their confidence and cooperation with all concerned authorities.”

For those wanting to use the Alhosn app to enter Abu Dhabi, you can show a text proving a negative result until the issues are resolved.

The rules come into effect from today (Friday June 18) and “continue until the app is updated”.

The green passes on the Alhosn app are based on vaccination and validity of the individual’s latest PCR test.

There are six categories:

Category 1: For those vaccinated who have received their second dose at least 28 days earlier or are volunteers in vaccine trials, a negative PCR test result will see the Alhosn status appear in green for 30 days, as well as show the active icon (letter E or gold star) for seven days.

Category 2: For people who have received their second dose less than 28 days earlier, a negative PCR test result will give green-light status for 14 days.

Category 3: For those who have received their first dose and are waiting for their second dose appointment, a negative PCR test result will see their Alhosn status change to green for seven days.

Category 4: People who have received their first dose and are late to their second dose appointment by 48 days or more, a negative PCR test result will see the app’s status appear in green for three days.

Category 5: For those with vaccine exemption certificates as per approved processes, a negative PCR test result will see the Alhosn status appear in green for seven days.

Category 6: And finally, for those who are unvaccinated and do not have exemption, a negative PCR test result will see the app’s status change to green for three days.

For all categories, Alhosn’s status will turn grey when the relevant PCR test validity ends. It will turn red when the test result is positive and government isolation procedures will need to be followed.
