Emirates and Etihad Airways rank in the world’s top 20 airlines for 2021

Find out where the UAE airlines lie on the list of the globe’s best

Love flying from the UAE? And if you’re flying with Emirates Airline or Etihad Airways you’re in luck, as both UAE-based carriers have been rated among the top 20 in the world.

AirlineRatings.com timeoutdubai.com/travel, an airline safety and product rating review website, has revealed its list of the world’s top 20 airlines for 2021, and both Dubai’s Emirates and Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways have come up trumps.

Dubai’s Emirates, which ranked sixth in 2020 moved up to the fifth spot after introducing its ultra-luxe Premium Economy cabin, while Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways maintained its spot as number 20 for the second year running.

To be named in the top 20, airlines must achieve a seven-star safety rating and demonstrate leadership in innovation for passenger comfort.

Qatar Airways topped the 2021 rankings, while other airlines making it into the top ten include Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines, and Australia’s flag carrier Qantas.

According to AirlineRatings.com, the world’s top 20 airlines for 2021 are as follows:

9. EVA Air (Taiwan)
10. British Airways (United Kingdom)
11. Lufthansa (Germany)
12. ANA (Japan)
13. Finnair (Finland)
14. Japan Air Lines (Japan)
15. KLM (Netherlands)
16. Hawaiian Airlines (Hawaii)
17. Alaska Airlines (United States)
18. Virgin Australia (Australia)
19. Delta Air Lines (United States)
20. Etihad Airways (United Arab Emirates)
