Fujairah’s Umbrella Beach to undergo exciting new revamp

Beachfront promenade set to be open by 2022

When someone mentions tourist attractions in the UAE, you immediately think of the Burj Khalifa, Dubai (and the world’s) tallest skyscraper. Or perhaps you think of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque – the largest mosque in the world – in Abu Dhabi. But it’s not all about the main cities, as Fujairah aims to get in on the action with a new tourist attraction.

Fujairah is known for its serene beaches, towering Hajar Mountains and scuba diving sites scattered about the emirate. However, next on the tourist agenda are the shops at Umbrella Beach.

The new area is expected to be completed by the end of the year, and will feature at least 15 storefronts, eventually to be followed by upscale retailers, the latest restaurants and other tourist attractions.

And as its a beachside, we’re expecting watersports too.

Ultimately, Umbrella Beach wants to offer visitors an “all-in-one retail experience” with plans for a drive-in cinema, sport courts, watersport facilities and even a rock climbing wall on the Fujairah shore. Umbrella Beach will be located on the Fujairah corniche; the Eastern most point of the emirate.

“As one of the UAE’s smaller emirates, Fujairah is frequently overlooked by tourists and visitors to the country”, said project manager Abdullah Taleb.

“The Umbrella Beach project plans to rectify this by drawing attention to Fujairah’s vast tourism potential, including its striking modernity, impressive work ethic, and breathtaking natural beauty.”

As if we needed another excuse to visit the emirate.
