Free PCR tests to be given at Abu Dhabi schools

Students and teachers can be tested on campus

If you’re a student, educator, or school staff member working in Abu Dhabi, you will be able to get free COVID-19 PCR tests at your school.

The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) and Abu Dhabi’s Department of health (DoH) are partnering to provide students and teachers with free screenings from Tuesday September 7.

According to Abu Dhabi Media Office, trained health professionals will conduct nasal and saliva PCR tests on campus. This measure will make it easier for students and school staff to meet routine testing requirements, and to immediately test anyone in the school who is displaying symptoms.

All public and private clinics in Abu Dhabi will also offer free PCR tests for children throughout September.

Regardless of age or vaccination status, all students must produce a negative 14-day nasal PCR or saliva test before returning to school.

Students younger than 12 and Students of Determination qualify for free pre-entry PCR tests at any centre across Abu Dhabi. They must present a valid Emirates ID and specify that they are getting the back to school pre-entry test at the centre.

Students and staff will be required to maintain a 14-day valid PCR test result during the first month of the new academic year.
