The upgraded road access to Al Qudra Lakes and this new Dubai-Al Ain Road Improvement Project is all part of an Emirate-wide transport infrastructure improvement initiative. According to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), this new Dubai-Al Ain Road Improvement Project cost Dhs2,000,000.

The Dubai-Al Ain Road Improvement Project spans across 17 km from the intersection of Emirates Road to the intersection of Ras Al Khor Road along the Dubai-Al Ain Road. The works included widening the road from just three lanes to six lanes running in each direction

Construction works included widening the road from three to six lanes in each direction, and constructing six main interchanges along with bridges and ramps stretching 11.5 km. This widening of the lanes will allow for double intake of road users per hour, taking numbers from 12,000 to 24,000 vehicles per hour.

These projects and initiative to improve Dubai’s transportation infrastructure and roads will work to support the Emirates’ continued economic development; encouraging new business and investment, as well as providing high standard of infrastructure and access to the local communities in the area.

There are more than 1.5 million people living and working in the area. The road improvements will also serve the 27,500 students enrolled in the 25 universities and colleges in the area.

In more good news for road users, this new road will also slash the travel time on the Dubai-Al Ain Road from the intersection of Ras Al Khor Road to the intersection of the Emirates Road by 50% from 16 minutes to just eight minutes during peak time.

Opened Sun May 29.
