Golden Jubilee celebrations, an Expo 2020 Wonderland and Alicia Keys in concert

Expo 2020 is offering a generous new Festive Pass for Dhs95 to help you make the most of the world’s greatest show with winter.

Throughout December, visitors can score unlimited access to its programme of cultural and educational attractions at a cut price of Dhs95.

Yes, it seem that Expo 2020 Dubai is the gift that just keeps on giving.

Over the festive period there will be a whole host of special events including the UAE’s Golden Jubilee celebrations, Christmas festivities and major stars live in concert, including the likes of Alicia Keys.

Golden Jubilee celebrations

First up will be the Golden Jubilee celebrations between December 1 and December 4, which will mark 50 years since the UAE was founded in 1971.

There will be a blend of human performance and theatrics, showcasing Al Wasl dome’s unique capabilities in a never-before-seen way with a cast of more than 200.

Also on the programme of Golden Jubilee events at Expo2020 is the ‘Journey of a Thread’ show, which will demonstrate Emirati craftsmanship. Emirati singing star, Eida Al Menhali will be performing a concert, there will be a show by Arabic poet ‘Al Azi’ along with a musical showcase by another renowned Emirati singer, Fatma Zahrat Al Ain. That’s not to mention the cracking firework displays to mark the big day.

Expo 2020 Wonderland

Expo will be transforming into a Wonderland this winter to get visitors into the merry mood this Christmas in Dubai.

Al Wasl, the Welcome Plazas, Jubilee Stage, Dubai Millennium Amphitheatre, Al Forsan Park and all concourse areas will be decked in dazzling festive decorations.

As part of the festive-themed programme of events, there will be a tree lighting ceremony, fireworks, carol concerts, seasonal tunes from District musicians and Exposonix and a dusting of snow. Word has it that Santa will be swinging by Expo 2020 Dubai too, so keep your eyes peeled.

There will be fun for all of the family with a special showing of holiday movies Home Alone (December 23), Miracle on 34th Street (December 24) and Elf (December 25) on the Jubilee stage, and see nightly shows and spectacular seasonal projections at Al Wasl Plaza from December 20 until December 29 (excluding December 27).

There will be plenty of festive food to get stuck into at the Expo 2020’s market at the Surreal waterfall and many of Expo’s 200-plus restaurants serving seasonal menus.

As part of the Late Nights at Expo programme, there will be a special festive line-up for three nights from December 23 to December 25, with a range of artists from across the globe, while Christmas Day will see entertainment from Filipina singing sensation Lea Salonga, British artist Joe Stilgoe and the London Community Gospel Choir.

Alicia Keys


Alica Keys will be taking the stage by storm on December 10, live at the Al Wasl stage. There will also be a special event on December 19 featuring Academy Award-winning composer and musician A.R. Rahman.
