Global Village to get electric abras for new season

The water taxis are back again

With the new season of Global Village on the horizon, many of us are getting excited about what’s to come for the theme park.

Season 27 begins when the park reopens on Tuesday October 25.

Fans of the world-country-themed park will be pleased to know that the popular abra rides are returning to the park.

Yes, it has been confirmed that Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will be deploying two electric abras to Global Village.

The abras will take guests from one end of the man-made lake to the other. that weaves in and out of the pavilions.

“We approved a plan to operate two electric abras to serve guests of the Global Village this season. The service proved extremely popular amongst visitors over the past seasons,” added Mohammed Abu Bakr Al Hashemi, director of marine transport, public transport agency, RTA.

The abra rides aren’t the attractions confirmed for Global Village Season 27, there will also be a new attraction called The Road of Asia. A pedestrian street, The Road of Asia will feature 43 kiosks from the 13 Asian countries which are not represented through the 27 pavilions.

The new addition will be a shopping experience that includes authentic arts and crafts from 13 new Asian countries (that don’t already have pavilions) — Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Cambodia, Malaysia, Brunei, Laos, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar and the Philippines.

Another update for Season 27, is the addition of two new pavilions, Qatar and Oman. While the list of confirmed pavilions for this season is UAE, KSA, Bahrain, Kuwait, Afghanistan, Africa, Americas, China, Egypt, Europe, India, Iran, Japan, South Korea, Lebanon, Morocco, Pakistan, Palestine, Syria, Thailand, Turkey, Yemen and Russia.
