NYU Abu Dhabi and the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development has teamed up with Al Burda, a platform for Islamic arts and culture to launch a special virtual program for Ramadan 2020.
The programme is made up of four events, all of which consist of contemplative works to suit quiet evenings at home.
The content, which aims to allow those taking part to embrace the spirit of reflection during Ramadan, has been created by The Arts Center and features a curation of performances from its archives.
Every Wednesday at 9.30pm, starting this week on Wednesday April 29, the platform will stream a show on Facebook to accommodate Isha and Taraweeh prayers with a celebration of contemporary Islamic arts from the Al Burda Festival. You will also find durational performances to adapt to Ramadan schedules.
The new program is part of NYU’s ‘Reconnect’ series, which was introduced to encourage the community in the capital to abide by the government’s stay home initiative whilst giving them a platform to enjoy arts and culture virtually.

•Fathy Salama with Sheikh Mahmoud Tohamy: Sufism vs Modernism, Wednesday, May 20 at 9:30pm – filmed in The Red Theater to a sold out crowd on September 26, 2019.
