Etihad Airways will distribute Ramadan boxes to those affected by COVID-19

It comes after the airline announced it was preparing food for those in need

Etihad Airways has announced that it will provide special Ramadan boxes for those affected by COVID-19.

The airline’s Etihad Ramadan Box consists of freshly prepared iftar meals for those who needed the most during the pandemic, including hospitals, essential workers, volunteers and communities in need across the UAE.

The launch is part of Etihad’s wider initiative as the official provider of meals for those affected by the pandemic across the country. Etihad Airport
Service Catering has been working with the government, alongside business organisations and community centres in Abu Dhabi, using its facilities to prepare thousands of meals.

Introducing the Ramadan boxes, Robin Kamark, chief commercial officer of Etihad Aviation Group said: “Ramadan is a traditional time for gathering with friends and family, but with the impact of COVID-19, this year it is more challenging to do so. In these extraordinary times, we wanted to bring a touch of our signature inflight hospitality to our local community and recognise the incredible efforts of the UAE’s medical staff and essential workers.”

There will be 1,000 boxes sent out every day, they can beordered through Zomato – all you need to do is select the option on the homescreen and put the code ETIHAD in the discount code box.

They will be dleivered on trust and only one per person can be ordered. Selected volunteers, healthcare and key workers will also receive a box filled with fresh ingredients and an easy to follow recipe, the airline has confirmed.
